Terrorism abroad

Az alabbi email fogadott ma reggel:

Dear Members,

We have been asked by the British Embassy to circulate this message for your reference.

Notice to British Nationals registered with the British Embassy warden network in the UAE

We are writing to inform British nationals registered with our warden network that - drawing on information from a range of sources - the British Government has raised its assessment of the level of threat from terrorism in the UAE.

Accordingly, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office updated the relevant section of our travel advice for the United Arab Emirates yesterday to inform British residents and travellers that:

"There is a high threat from terrorism. Terrorists may be planning to carry out attacks in the UAE. Terrorist attacks could be indiscriminate and could happen at any time, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers such as residential compounds, military, oil, transport and aviation interests. You should maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places."

The full, updated travel advice is available at: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/travel-advice-by-country/middle-east-north-africa/united-arab-emirates

We do not provide a detailed justification for every change to travel advice, and will not be doing so on this occasion. We are naturally in close touch with the authorities. We are not advising British nationals to change their travel plans. We would, of course, update the travel advice immediately if this situation changes.

Travel Advice is under constant review, drawing on a variety of sources available to the UK government, including intelligence, local knowledge and the experience of the FCO's Posts. Threat levels tend to go both up and down.

Advice on minimising the risk from terrorism to British citizens travelling and living abroad is available at: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/staying-safe/terrorism-abroad. We also encourage all residents and travellers to register with us at: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/Locate/
